Cap Coast Art Trail 2022

Recently we discovered an art trail along the Capricorn Coast spanning 21km with 25+ locations to stop and admire. Most of the artwork is displayed on toilet blocks which at times made for taking photos an art in itself haha.

We began at Emu Park (45.3km from Rockhampton) then headed towards Yeppoon along the Scenic Hwy. The day was broken up with, keeping an eagle eye out, stopping photographing then jumping back in the car. There are plenty of places to park safely and as we mentioned artwork on toilet blocks so bathroom breaks are not a problem either.

Heading north from Emu Park to Yeppoon, take the Scenic Hwy – Rosslyn Bay, Yeppoon turn off otherwise you will miss out seeing about 50% of the trail. Once we arrived in Yeppoon it was about time to stop of a coffee, because after all we are the Thirsty Tourists.

Yeppoon is oozing with cafes, local musicians, pristine beaches and is a secret holiday spot for many, away from the busy cities. Leaving the car parked in the main street, it was an easy walk to find sculptures and art long the foreshore, parks and even the multi-storey car park.

It was surprising to see so many hidden gems along this art trail with the local council attaching QR codes to most of the ones we found to understand the artwork and local artists. You can even learn about the beaches with QR codes present at the small dune entrance ways leading to most of the beaches. We don’t want to spoil the whole trip, so there are a few more, waiting for you to explore!
