The Festival of the Wind began in 1999 and now attracts world-class kite flyers/designers from all over Australia. It is run by the Emu Park Lions and local radio station Triple M.
Over the years it has become one of the most popular family kite festivals in Australia. It is held when the winds are obviously favourable, and correct tides lay bare large stretches of sand allowing room for both kite flying and other beach activities.
