Our journey today would see us head to Melbourne. I had visited Melbourne once and it would be Mrs Thirsty’s first time there.
Leaving Apollo Bay we drove to Lorne for breakfast at Moons Expresso Bar. From there we hit the road for our first stop of the day, the Memorial Arch on the eastern end of the Great Ocean Road.
The Memorial Arch proved to be a popular spot for tourists with 3 packed tourist buses parker there. We weren’t in a hurry so we waited for the buses to leave to be able to grab some photos.
Not far from the Memorial Arch is Split Point Lighthouse our next stop of the day.
Leaving Split Point Lighthouse we continued on to Bells Beach, Port Lonsdale Lighthouse and Little Creatures Brewery at Geelong for a beer or two and a spot of lunch. After lunch we had a short drive to our destination in Melbourne,
We stayed at the Atlantis Motel in Spencer Street. I had stayed here in 2022 with some mates when we did a bit of a tour on our Harleys.
It’s a great location and is very well priced, the trams pull up practically in front of the motel and are free in the inner city. We took full advantage of them.
Once settled in we got a tram into the CBD and visited the Elephant and Wheelbarrow a English themed pub in Bourke Street. After a couple of beers we walked to Chinatown for the first of three evening visits. Tonight we dined at Mr Bo.
