It was time to say goodbye to Ravenswood and get moving towards our destination at Lake Dunn.
Lake Dunn is 63km north east of Aramac. the lake is the only wetland area in Central West Queensland and is consequently home to a large waterfowl population.
The start of our journey was rather foggy so we took it slower heading to Charters Towers being mindful of the wildlife.
We stopped in Charters Towers to fuel up and grab some breakfast, as we were in town early a lot of the cafe’s were still closed. So it was off to McDonalds for a coffee and McMuffin.
Once our bellies were filled we hit the road to Clermont, we would be turning off at the Lake Buchanan road. It was an easy route to follow along the dirt, the ExplorOz Traveller GPS kept us on track.
A stop to check out Lake Buchanan showed the lake was low and water had receded a long way from the shoreline.
From Lake Buchanan we tried to get down to Lake Galilee. This proved to be difficult, so we ended up continuing on our journey.
Once we turned around we continued on the Lake Dunn. We were told the powered sites at Lake Dunn were to the right of the entrance into the lake.
The powered sites were popular with the caravan crowd and there was virtually no shade available due to the layout. So we ventured left and found a powered area near the cabins and found a spot with trees and shade from the cabins to set up our camp site.
