Breakfast in Williams, AZ. offers limited choices when you get up early. Well maybe early for the town at least it was late for us. We foolishly tried a coffee after the coffee shop staff said they knew how to make a flat white. They clearly didn’t know how to do it. Or at least how to do it in a way we’re used to.

With our detour to Las Vegas on today the only Route 66 stuff we did was limited to the journey from Williams to Kingman.

One of the best parts of this trip was getting to meet Angel Delgadillo. He was instrumental in establishing the Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona, and campaigned for “Historic Route 66” signage on the former US highway.

From Seligman it was on to Hackberry General Store for some photos and more memorabilia.  Then we journeyed on to Mr D’z Diner in Kingman, it is a must visit spot for a cool 50’s style retro diner. The food and milkshakes are great.

From there it was onto Las Vegas, we were expecting the heat. Expecting it and riding in it aren’t the same though. At one stage the bike was showing a ambient air temp of 49°C.

We did the obligatory visits to Harley-Davidson dealerships:

Mrs. Thirsty was overheating with the high temps and as soon as we entered one of the H-D dealerships they were quick to offer a cold bottle of water. Great service to someone walking in the door.

After checking into the Ellis Island Hotel Super 8 Las Vegas, we got out complementary “Growler” to fill at the casino next door. Then we ventured around the Vegas strip rehydrating with some adult beverages. We then made our way up to Caesar’s Palace to visit the Montecristo Cigar Bar to try out some cigars and partake in some more cold beers.

Tomorrow we venture around Vegas.
