Today would see us begin our journey towards Santa Monica and the end of Route 66. We have a lot planned to look at along the way and it was raining, not how I wanted to begin our ride on Route 66.
Our destination today would be Lincoln Illinois a distance of around 147 miles (236km).

All of these sites are worth a visit and look around if you are doing the journey along Route 66. Make sure you take your time and don’t rush. There is a lot to fill in your day. We could have taken longer, having done the trip with a good mate in 2013 I had an idea where we wanted to be each day.
The Pontiac Oakland museum is a must for any car fanatics out there.
Our destination for the day was the township of Lincoln, Illinois. We were booked in to the Super 8 located at 2809 Woodlawn Rd.
After we checked in and refreshed ourselves we headed to El Mazatlan for the first of many Mexican restaurants we would visit on our journey.
