The Final Leg – Time to Head Home
We decided to hit the road fairly early, with plans to stop in Alpha for breakfast. Sounds like a good plan, doesn’t it? Well, as it turned out, our timing was a little too good! 😂
Being early on a Saturday morning meant our breakfast options were somewhat limited. Forget a nice little country café with freshly cooked eggs and bacon — we were left to explore the culinary delights of the local service station’s hot box. Nothing quite says gourmet touring breakfast like whatever happens to be sitting under a heat lamp! 🍳🤣
With breakfast sorted (well, sort of), we pointed the car towards home and settled in for the drive. The trip back was pretty straightforward, with no major adventures, unexpected detours or roadside dramas to report.
Sometimes the ride home is just about putting the kilometres behind you and reflecting on the good times along the way.
All up, we’d had a great few days of touring, exploring new places and making more memories. The trusty MX-5 had done its job, even if its luggage capacity left a little to be desired compared with our usual two-wheeled touring machines.
Now it’s time to start thinking about the next adventure. After all, there are plenty more roads to travel, towns to explore and country pubs to discover.
And hopefully, next time, we’ll manage to time breakfast a little better! 🍻🚗
