Touring Oz

That’s a Wrap – Until the Next Adventure! After yesterday’s gear selector drama with the Harley-Davidson Ultra, we decided it was time to call it a day and head straight home. We’d had enough mechanical excitement to last us a while, thank you very much! With the gear selector already causing trouble, there was no …

Heading Home – Machinery, Mountain Views and Mechanical Mayhem! Our eight-wheeled adventure (well, a few motorcycles between us!) was slowly drawing to a close, and today would bring us another step closer to home. With around 415km to cover, we had a fair bit of road ahead of us, but there was one planned stop …

Longreach – Qantas, Stockmen and a Rather Dark Walk Home! Today was a relatively easy day in the saddle, with only around 180km to cover and Longreach as our destination. Freezing Our Way to Mount Isa  We woke to a rather brisk 3°C this morning. Three degrees! This is Queensland, not an expedition to the South Pole! Unfortunately, when packing for this adventure, we hadn’t exactly planned for weather that could freeze the smile off a brass monkey. Our riding gear was ready for touring, …

Harleys, Outback Highways and a Bush Pub with History  After a great night of good food, cold beers and catching up with friends, it was time to saddle up and hit the road again. There’s only so long you can sit around enjoying yourself before that pesky touring schedule starts calling! Today’s adventure would take …

Two Wheels, Great Scenery and a Slight Change of Beer Plans!  It was time to dust off the two-wheeled touring gear and get back out on the open road. The weather was looking ideal, the bikes were ready to roll, and the Thirsty Tourists were keen to get another adventure underway. This trip had a …
