Well it was time to leave Melbourne and continue our adventure. Today we would be heading to Cowra in New South Wales. According to Google Maps is was a journey of 717km so it was going to be a big day. With our final breakfast in the Elevate Lounge it was time to get moving.

Our first stop of the was going to be the township of Glenrowan, made famous as the site of the Kelly Gang’s last stand. You could spend a lot of time wandering around the town looking at the history of the Kelly Gang’s last stand. As we had a fairly big drive for the day we limited our visit to Ned Kelly Museum and Homestead attraction.

We had planned to visit Beechworth Jail as well. There seemed to be a lot of people in town and it was just after the Victorian school holiday period. Not sure if that was a factor, but we decided to have a quick stop at the bakery and keep moving.

Back on the road our next stop was going to be at Holbrook to see the HMAS Ottaway display. Not what you expect to see in a rural New South Wales town. From Holbrook it was on to Gundagai to check out ‘The Dog on the Tucker Box’.  Now we were on the last leg of our journey to Cowra. Due to the time we wouldn’t make it to the Cowra POW camp remains today.

We had pre-booked our motel room at the Cowra Crest Motel, a short walk to the Club Cowra for a cold beer and some dinner.

My steak was cooked well, Mrs. Thirsty’s steak sandwich was still mooing though.
