As much as I loved riding the BMW K1600B it was not much fun doing solo runs on it. The best part of being on 2 wheels is doing it with the one you love.
It wasn’t really planned and whilst the K1600B was getting a service in Brisbane (750km away from home). I had seen a 2nd hand Harley-Davidson Road Glide 3 at Morgan and Wacker. It didn’t take a lot of thought to move on from the K1600B and take up a 3 wheel option that would allow Mrs. Thirsty to tour with me again.
The BMW K1600B was an absolutely brilliant motorcycle and without a doubt the best one I had ever owned.
The transition from 2 to 3 wheels was not without some issues. Firstly a new way of riding had to be adopted, no more hugging the fog line or centre line in curves. Also it brings in an entirely different riding dynamic.
The second thing that was a ‘hiccup’ in the whole experience it the Road Glide 3 kept going into limp mode and it took Gladstone Harley-Davidson some some to source the problem and sort out the issues and get it solved. They were top notch in getting it sorted for me as always there service is A1.
Once we were on the road we were getting into the groove of some short trips and quickly realised we would like a bit more comfort for the pillion. We went to check out the Tri-Glide and Rockhampton Harley-Davidson and had missed the Iron Horse Metallic Tri-Glide by one day. So we decide to order one and trade the Road Glide 3 in after only 5 months of ownership.
The Tri-Glide is due to arrive at Rockhampton Harley-Davidson in early December. We are looking forward to clocking up some km’s on it and are planning some multi day touring in the near future.
