We were up early as we wanted to check out the site that was the Cowra POW camp in WW2. Our journey today was around 680km. Aside from visiting the old prison camp site we had no real plans to look at anything else today. Our route was one we had mostly done several times over the past few years and we had done most of the touristy things we had wanted to already.
Our trip seen us travel through the township of Cudal, it is is located on ‘The Escort Way’, which was an important road within NSW for the transport of gold from the diggings to the main commercial centres. Bushrangers, including Ben Hall and Frank Gardiner, were known to operate in the area.
It was also our breakfast stop for the day, we found a delightful little cafe called the Platypus Pantry. A perfect spot to have a coffee and something to eat.
The rest of our day was uneventful, we did some some fabulous countryside and small towns. We were keen to get to Goondiwindi though so aside from rest and fuel stops we didn’t tarry on the jorney.
Once again we stayed at the Macintyre Motor Inn. It’s our normal go to motel when staying in Goondiwindi.
