The Thirsty Tourists are putting our taste buds to work in the never-ending search for the BEST plain mince beef pie in the region! π€ π₯§
Itβs a tough job, but somebody has to do it. And apparently, that somebody is us! π For consistency β and because Iβm a creature of habit β I went with my trusty benchmark: the humble plain mince pie.

π₯ Yarraman Bakery β Yarraman, QLD
Still the one to beat! π
For any fans of the traditional Aussie meat pie, this is definitely a place you need to try. I had a plain mince pie and, without a doubt, it was the best meat pie I have ever eaten! A generous, deep pastry shell absolutely packed with delicious beef mince filling.

The Albert Street Bakery at Inglewood has definitely earned a tick of approval from The Thirsty Tourists!

Wellβ¦ let’s just say this pie won’t be troubling the top of our leaderboard anytime soon!Β

π₯Β Pieway Bakery & CafΓ© β Highfields, QLD
Like Esk Bakery, this pie won’t be troubling the top of our leaderboard anytime soon!Β
The pie was okay, but it sits firmly down the lower end of the pies we’ve sampled so far. We wouldn’t be rushing back for another, and in our humble opinion, Brumby’s at Highfields does a better job in the pie department.
The service was friendly, although ordering mushy peas on a sausage roll seemed to cause a little confusion for one young staff member. Never fear, the peas eventually arrived! In fact, we received enough mushy peas to almost qualify as a sausage roll with a side of peas, rather than the other way around! π€£π«
The shop is small, with outdoor seating available. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other ideas, and the rain put an end to any plans of sitting outside to enjoy our pie.
Verdict: An okay pie, but nothing to write home about.
The battle for pie supremacy continues, and there’s still plenty of bakeries left to investigate. Our waistlines might be questioning this project, but our taste buds are fully committed! ππ₯§
