Dinner at Club Cowra – One Steak Wins, One Loses!
After a big day on the road, clocking up around 717 km, we headed over to Club Cowra for a well-earned cold drink and dinner.
After that much time behind the wheel, a decent steak sounded like just the ticket. Time to put the feet up, relax and enjoy a good feed. What could possibly go wrong? 😂
Well, it seems the kitchen had slightly different ideas about how our meals should be prepared.
My steak arrived cooked well, and I was quite happy with it. Mrs Thirsty’s steak sandwich, on the other hand, was apparently still mooing! 🐄
Now, some people enjoy their steak on the rare side, but there’s rare and then there’s wondering whether the cow might get up and wander off the plate!
Let’s just say one of us was considerably happier with dinner than the other.
Still, after a big day of driving, sightseeing and ticking off some interesting Australian landmarks, we weren’t about to let one undercooked steak sandwich ruin the evening.
We enjoyed our drinks, relaxed after the long drive and got ready for the next stage of our adventure.
Our verdict: A convenient stop for a meal and a cold drink after a long day touring. My steak hit the mark, although Mrs Thirsty’s dinner was a little disappointing. Perhaps next time we’ll ask for the steak sandwich to be introduced to the grill for a little longer! 😂
Not every meal can be a winner, but that’s all part of the touring adventure.
