We normally do what we call Thirsty Thursday. as we were in Sydney we were not about to let this one pass us by. This week’s Thirsty Thursday was a busy one! Being in Sydney and plenty of places still on the hit list, there was no time for sitting around twiddling our thumbs. We had sights to see, food to eat and, naturally, drinks to sample. It’s a tough gig, but someone’s got to do it!
After visiting Sydney for the past 13 years, you’d think we would have discovered most of the good spots by now. Apparently not!
Danieli in The Rocks was a new discovery for us, and what a little gem it turned out to be. Great coffee, good food and very reasonable prices for this part of Sydney.
Why has it taken us 13 years to find this place?
Better late than never, I suppose!
Next up was our booked visit to Skyfeast, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The food selection was excellent, although I reckon I got my money’s worth just in fresh oysters and prawns alone.
Judging by the number of trips other diners were making to the seafood, I wasn’t the only one who’d discovered the good stuff!
Before heading up to Skyfeast, we squeezed in a quick visit to Hobbyco for some essential hobby supplies. You know, the sort of things that absolutely cannot wait until we get home!
Then it was off to Myer for a new shirt. Apparently, the current one had become a little too snug around the middle.
Let’s just say the shirt wasn’t the problem I wanted to hear about, so there’s a little something to rectify when we get home. Those oysters and prawns aren’t going to walk themselves off!
Next stop was Flight Club, a social darts bar in The Rocks with a huge warehouse-style interior.
It looks like a fantastic place to catch up with friends, have a few laughs and throw some darts.
Whether those darts actually hit the target is another matter entirely!
We didn’t check out the food menu, but the cocktail menu certainly caught our attention.
I went with The Killer Colada, while Mrs Thirsty opted for the Social Spritz.
We’ll have to come back for a game of darts next time.
Although, after a couple of cocktails, I’m not making any promises about my aim!

After our less-than-stellar beer choice the previous evening, I decided Harts Pub deserved another chance.
Mrs Thirsty sat this round out, but I was keen to give their Red Ale a crack.
And I’m glad I did! This was much more like what I should have ordered the night before.
Sometimes you just have to go back and get it right. That’s my excuse, anyway!
Now here’s a place that surprised us!
How have we been visiting Sydney for 13 years and not known about The Doss House?
Tucked away down a hallway and reached via some old, uneven stairs, this cocktail bar has a wonderfully different atmosphere.
It’s the sort of place you could easily walk past without realising what you’re missing.
A little miscommunication at the bar resulted in me receiving TWO Spicy Margaritas, while Mrs Thirsty ended up with a Kiss From a Stranger.
I’m still not entirely sure how that happened, but I’m not one to argue with a bonus cocktail!

Mrs Thirsty seemed quite happy with her choice, too.
Although, with a name like that, perhaps it’s best not to ask too many questions!
Our final stop for the evening was Mrs Jones Dining & Terrace, part of the Orient Hotel in The Rocks.
A couple more cocktails later, we decided it was probably time to call it a night and head back to the motel.
And, for once, we managed to make that decision while it wasn’t raining.
Sydney weather had been keeping us guessing, so we took the opportunity to make a dash for it before the heavens opened again!

Six stops, plenty of food and drinks, a new shirt, some hobby supplies and another collection of places added to our Sydney memories.
Not a bad day’s work for a couple of tourists!
The good news is that we’re discovering new places even after 13 years of visiting Sydney. The bad news is that the list of places we still want to visit keeps getting longer.
At this rate, we’ll need to book longer holidays just to keep up!
Have you visited any of these places? Which one would you recommend we revisit, and are there any hidden gems in The Rocks or Sydney CBD that we’ve missed?
Drop your suggestions in the comments. We’re always happy to add another stop to the itinerary!
